About

Are you a writer?

Would a supportive community of other writers help you when you need ideas as to how to get over a problem with your work or just feel overwhelmed, blocked, or stressed from the solitary nature of the trade?

You’re not alone.

FAW is a mutual support group.  We’re helping each other push projects through to completion.

Fremont Area Writers is the Centennial Branch of the California Writers Club.

The California Writers Club is one of the nation’s oldest professional clubs for writers, founded in 1909. We are a nonprofit education corporation with eighteen branches in California. Our organization is dedicated to educating writers of all levels and disciplines in the craft of writing and in the marketing of their work.

Here at Fremont Area Writers we sponsor on-going projects to help our members advance their skills and learn how to complete, market, sell and promote our books and articles.

By encouraging participation in California Writers Club events we encourage the development of contacts with other publishing industry professionals.

During our meetings, held the fourth Saturday of each month on Zoom, we always recognize members who have reached milestones in their work or won awards.

At each monthly meeting, after our membership business is complete, we host a variety of industry professionals who share information on topics ranging from “How to Create an Opening Paragraph” (so compelling that your reader won’t be able to put your book down) to Understanding the Laws and Basic Contractual Concepts Authors Need to Know”

Check under Upcoming and Past Events for past and future speakers and their topics.

On the Fourth Monday evening of each month, (7PM) anyone can come to the Literary Salon on Zoom to read from their own work and request suggestions from other authors as to how to fix problems or get past roadblocks.

On the second Saturday of each month attend the Social Write-in, on Zoom, where you will be given a prompt and ten minutes to write.  You will share what you wrote with others in a Zoom.  There is no critiquing, the write-in is a low stress way of whetting your writing appetite and chatting with other writers.

Sound good?  Then come!  Be our guest at our next meeting on the fourth Saturday of the Month at 2PM (excepting July and December).  There’s no charge.  Get Zoom information for the meeting from Scott Davidson scottfrombayside@yahoo.com

We hope to see you there, but even if you decide to go it alone, best wishes to you and your project from all of us.
